One of the best ways to clean the track on your layout is to PUSH a track cleaner. That way, the wheels of the locomotive pushing the cleaner will stay clean. This track cleaner is made from an Athearn GP series locomotive. It is a fully assembled and detailed RTR locomotive with its chassis modified into a track cleaner, it has been made to roll freely by the removal of the drive shafts and power contact strip which are included for re-assembling the track cleaner to run independently if desired. This track cleaner is best used as a non powered unit being pushed by a powered locomotive and will look good up front doing its job where it belongs. The powered units wheels pushing it will stay clean.
Going even further, you can remove the motor from the track cleaning locomotive, leaving room for a sound decoder and speaker.

Now you can have a lead locomotive track cleaner with sound and lights.
